PTO Fundraising 101:

Feeling lost and overwhelmed by all of the Fundraisers? You aren’t alone. This is the final part of a three-part series focusing on the three different types of fundraisers that you can expect to hear about from the PTO. If you missed the first-segment on the Walk-a-Thon, click here or last week's segment on Silent Fundraisers, click here.

Part Three - Community Fundraisers
Community Fundraisers and Programs
Most community fundraisers are not run or sponsored by the PTO or even the school. The PTO will often help spread the word about fundraisers being run by other groups in our community. These fundraisers may look like t-shirt sales or a drive for supplies. And now that Lower Dauphin is going paperless, most of these community fundraisers and notices will only be posted online.

Lower Dauphin has created a space on the district website where parents/guardians can find notices from school-sponsored activities, school-related organizations and other community groups. Located at www.ldsd.org/notices.

Mini-THON
Mini-THON is a multi-hour, interactive, fun-filled event to raise money for children with cancer in our region. All money raised goes directly to Four Diamonds, which funds research to help find a cure and supports families of children who are being treated at Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital. Leading up to the event, there will be various fundraisers to help East Hanover make a big impact.

Although parents have volunteered during the event, in the past, mini-THON has not been a PTO event. Due to an expressed interest from parents requesting involvement in miniTHON, a committee is being formed and the PTO is providing support to parents and families that want to participate on a greater level.

There will be an informational meeting on Wednesday, October 18th at 4:30 p.m. in the school library (directly following the PTO meeting at 4:00). Come to learn more details! You can also visit here for more information on East Hanover Mini-THON or for more information, contact Parent Committee Chair Julie Hess at Julie.s.hess@gmail.com 717-982-1934 or Mini-THON Chair Mrs. Gillis: qgillis@ldsd.org.
