Lower Dauphin schools will be in session on Friday, February 16 for the 1st snow make-up day.
Also, Friday, February 16 is the deadline for the:
(1) spring box top contest
(2) Mini-THON participation form and
(3) Talent Show participation & permission forms
Sweet Treat Feast
February 22
2nd & 3rd grade families are hosting a feast of goodies and sweet treats for EH staff and teachers to show our thanks and appreciation. Please consider signing up here and donating a treat for them to enjoy. Treats can be homemade or store bought! Anything is appreciated!!
Mini-THON
February 23 from 3:30 - 5:30 p.m.
Fun-filled, no-sitting dance marathon held after school to celebrate the total money East Hanover has raised to help beat childhood cancer. Permission forms
are due February 16.
Talent Show
March 2 at 6:00 p.m.
Join the PTO as East Hanover Students showcase their many talents. Participation and Permission Forms are due this week - Friday, February 16.

MiniTHON Corner
MiniTHON is right around the corner, on Friday, February 23! The event is free to attend, but a permission slip must be returned by Friday, Feb 16th. If you don't have a copy that was sent home last week, you can print one out here.
It's an afternoon of Zumba and dancing and fun, immediately after school. Parents are welcome to attend and watch from the back of the gym. We are also in need of parent volunteers. If you are interested and have your clearances, please email Mrs. Gillis at qgillis@ldsd.org or Mrs. Solomon at jsolomon@ldsd.org.
While there is no charge to attend our Mini-THON, there is an opportunity for you to donate money, if you would like to do so. All donations go directly to Four Diamonds and kids fighting cancer at Penn State Hershey Children's Hospital. You can send a check to school, made payable to Four Diamonds or East Hanover PTO, with MiniTHON in the memo. You can also donate online by going to the following website: www.tinyurl.com/EHminiTHON
Please help us raise more money FOR THE KIDS by sharing this link with family and friends via email or on social media. Parent's Book Club
The East Hanover Elementary Parent's Book Club starts start on Tuesday, March 6 and runs every Tuesday morning in March from 8:40 - 9:15 a.m. We will be reading and discussing “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens” by Sean Covey and how those principles apply to elementary age kids.

National Random Acts of Kindness Week |
|
|
East Hanover Elementary will be celebrating Random Acts of Kindness this week (February 12-16). We perform Random Acts of Kindness when we go beyond what is expected of us and reach out to help another person. This week we will be sharing the importance of caring, compassion, empathy, respect, responsibility, appreciation, friendship, and spreading kindness just because!
The PTO sponsored a gift that will be presented to every student throughout the week.

Box Tops for the "We love East Hanover" Box Top Contest are due Friday, February 16. Clipping, collecting and submitting Box Tops for Education earns our school a substantial amount of financial support each year. You can cut box top labels from any of these participating products.Each box top is worth $.10 cash to our school.
If your child turns in a collection sheet with at least 5 eligible Box Tops on it by the 16th they will be awarded a participation prize. Each child that submits 25 eligible Box Tops will be entered to win a $10 Five Below gift card. One gift card per grade will be awarded. Please check the date on the box top and send in only ones that have not expired.
Although labels can be sent in at anytime and placed in the large soup can near the main entrance of the school, four box top drives are done each year. The final Box Top Drive will take place later this spring.

Also, please note that Campbell's Soup has discontinued their Labels for Education Program. We will no longer be collecting these labels.

Let your student shine at the 2018 Talent Show
Join the East Hanover Elementary PTO on Friday, March 2 at 6:00 p.m. as we showcase our students' many talents.
Does your student have a talent that they'd like to share? Performers are wanted! Here are some important guidelines for participants:
1. Important Dates:
- Participation Forms: deadline has been extended through
Friday, February 16, 2018 (print here)
- Permission Forms: must be returned to the office by
Friday, February 16, 2018 (print here)
- Practices Dates:
Thursday, February 22 OR
Monday, February 26. Practice starts immediately following school in the school gym and lasts until everyone has a chance to perform. Participants are required to attend one of the practices AND Dress Rehearsal. Performance-ready CDs are due at the student’s practice date.
- Mandatory Dress Rehearsal:
Tuesday, February 27, immediately following school in the school gym. Dress rehearsal is mandatory for each participant and will last until everyone has a chance to perform.
2. All performances may include singing, dancing, instrumental performances, drama, comedy, magic or skits. All acts must be deemed appropriate for the family atmosphere of the PTO. Music, lyrics, dress/costumes and acts are subject to approval.
3. Students may perform with a group or solo, but each student may only perform once.
4. All acts must adhere to a 90 second time limit.
5. Students must supply their own music and/or props. All CD’s need to be performance ready and labeled by the first practice date.
6. Students and attendees accept full responsibility for their behavior and can be asked to leave and not allowed to participate if their behavior is not within school guidelines.

Due to the school closings for weather, students and staff must report to school for the following make up days:
- Friday, February 16
- Wednesday, March 28
- Friday, May 25
With the recent cancelations, it can be easy to lose which day we are in our cycle. Monday is Day 5.
